The sound of a beautiful future coming towards us
Industrialization moved the populous to consume rather than make. Consumerism decontextualized consumption, from the obvious lack of resource.

So, why does the word Committees have so many double letters? #designbycommittees
In some ways design has returned to pure functionalism, after the form bending brilliance of Cranbrook, The Thunderjockies or Brody.
I guess I’m most concerned that design is so closely connected to commerce. My younger friends dream of start-ups, products, making above all else.
Our challenge, is to connect this spirit to culture, to oppose rather than support the hegemony, test it,...

Only an industry that has historically separated thinking and making could believe that developing isn’t part of the creatives job. I’m reminded of the days when adland hired graphic designers and typographers as the slaves of creative minds who could neither draw nor design their own ideas. All creativity is #thinkmaking via @jfall
Watch your thoughts, for they become words.Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become your character. And watch your character, for it becomes your destiny

Thoughtful piece by @benfu on brand as a context for interaction design @method_inc
I'm not a brand strategist. I'm a designer.
It never ceases to amaze me which bucket I get put in. But when I learned design, I was taught to think and make.
It’s a two way street, ya’ll.

We’re only just learning what intelligence is and these clowns are DNA testing intelligence in preschoolers for admission.
Dear apple, the iPhone that you sold me last year is now inoperable.
The unbreakable gorilla glass broken, the home button, vacant of any use.
my videos are static and my apps redundant. My user journey has hit a dead end.
You are all the dim light I see through the mist of my present frustrations.

I never thought I’d hear a branding company talking about UX. Seems like ‘brands as patterns’ has sunk in. #futurejustgotinteresting
How was your day? I woke up to the news of a leak in my bathroom in London. Went to the bank for a simple signature, left with a complex problem. Worked through lunch to be shouted at in a meeting that I had little involvement in. #tolerance #humor

Who worked on what, and how can we tell?
I had a huge response to the last post,
which spurred me to think a little further. Theres some pretty good citation models put there for scientific research. I’m wondering whether we need another. But if we did, it would create social communities around projects, rather than around workplace (linkedin)
it would include colleagues, vendors, clients, metrics, open scrape-able code,...
Who worked on what and how can we tell?
What to do?
I was contacted by a very good recruiting friend, who asked for my opinion on a designer who worked on Nokia viNe with me. The problem, I couldn’t place them, I hadn’t heard the name, I searched through my files, nothing. I had to honestly say I couldn’t offer a recommendation, as the designer in question most likely had a tangentially relevant relationship to the...
